On April 1st, students dressed their best and gathered to learn a little bit about proper etiquette. The Etiquette Dinner is an annual event hosted by the Highland Ambassadors where students are given the opportunity to learn life skills that are seldom taught in the classroom.

The event began at 5 p.m. in Pogue’s north dinning area and students were given time to mingle. Also during this time, speakers addressed the students on etiquette in other countries, customs across the globe and proper dining etiquette in a formal business setting.

After this, the students were able to put their newfound skills to the test. They were served a five-course meal, including a palate cleanser, consisting of bread, soup, salad, an entree, and dessert. Throughout the meal, experts guided students on the proper way to sit, place their napkins, excuse themselves from the table, use their silverware and even butter their bread.

The end of the evening was met with applause and happy faces. This year’s Etiquette Dinner was a proper success.
