Edinboro students get to the STEM of authentic early-childhood education - STEM Ambassadors present EVESTOPIA workshops to Elk Valley Elementary

STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Ambassadors at Edinboro are dedicated to implementing activities and learning experiences in the contemporary classroom. Working with Elk Valley Elementary School, part of the Girard School District in Girard, Pa., Edinboro students recently presented a STEM expo for Girard-area students and their families. EU students and faculty developed activities based on simple machines for families to explore.

Edinboro University students are involved in countless projects outside the university. From student-teaching to volunteer service, EU students understand the value of community. This concept holds true for graduate student Leeann Allagas, who is in her third semester at Edinboro. During her academic experience, Allagas has also collaborated with the Regional Cancer Center in Erie, where she is working on an art therapy project. In March 29, Allagas and the RCC, 2500 W. 12th St., Erie, will present “Cancer, Healing & Hope,” an informative evening about art therapy and its benefits.
