William Lee Galt IV recently won the SGA election for president over current president Rachel Pollard.

Galt will become president after the final meeting of SGA congress this year. There’s no better time than now to get to know your future student government association president.

Galt is a junior communications major at Edinboro University. He has been involved with SGA for three years and is a founding brother of Alpha Kappa Psi. Galt also is an active bagpiper in EU’s Bagpipes and Drums Club and is a delegate for the Model UN. Galt has a “vision for SGA” and it “starts with improving SGA’s relationship with clubs and organizations on campus.”

“The first step is admitting there’s a problem and acknowledging the difficulties. I plan to improve it and make every interaction with clubs and organizations good, “Galt said.

He also has plans to keep SGA a professional atmosphere, but Galt wants the SGA office to be a comfortable hangout spot for students and encourages students to come visit and get to know the members of SGA.

Other goals include “hosting more fun, exciting events and getting the SGA congress to interact more with students.” Galt wants to create more opportunities for current students and also wants to focus on orientation.

His first order of business is to “get the freshmen class excited to be here. I plan on staying here all summer to show my face and walk around all day with my bagpipes in a kilt and let the new students feel welcome and know they have a family here.” Galt also wants students to know that he spoke with a lot of you, heard what you had to say and has not forgotten.

With that being said, the new SGA President William Lee Galt IV will work to make his goals a reality when he officially becomes president after the final meeting of SGA congress this year.
