The Edinboro women’s lacrosse team finished 10th last season in the PSAC.

The conference believes the Fighting Scots will have a fairly similar 2015 campaign. The PSAC announced the 2015 women’s lacrosse coaches’ preseason poll on Feb. 12 and Boro was ranked 11th out of the total 13 teams in the PSAC.

Led by head coach Kevin Cooke, the Scots are coming off a 7-9 record overall and a 3-9 mark in the PSAC just a year ago.

The biggest returner for Edinboro is reigning AllPSAC Third Team member Cydney Hrycko. In her freshman campaign, she led Boro with 37 goals, ranking 20th in the conference.

Other returners for the 2015 season include Becca Martin, who led the Fighting Scots with 63 points and 36 assists in 2014. She was fifth last season in the PSAC averaging 2.25 assists per game. Also, Autumn Held will be back between the pipes for the red and white after starting every game last season for Edinboro. She was fifth in the PSAC averaging 8.06 saves per game and was sixth in the conference in save percentage at .466.

Lock Haven, the defending conference champion and NCAA runner-up from 2014, was picked to finish first, received 12 first-place votes. Mercyhurst was picked second and Indiana (Pa.) was chosen to finish third and also received one first-place vote.

A more comprehensive season preview will appear in next week’s edition of the Spectator.
