Everyone enjoys seeing a good movie now and again.  No matter what your preference might be, there will always be a new flick you’re just itching to check out.

This week is about action movies…those heavy hitting, years-in-the-making blockbusters that floor us and take us for a wild ride.  The ones that deliver epic awesomeness and leave us in the theater thinking, “Whoa! That was incredible.  I cannot wait to see it again!”

Here is a list of the top five action movies to look out for in 2015.

Warning: Potential Spoilers Ahead.  The following movies are not listed in accordance to any sort of personal preference. They are arranged by their massive advertising campaigns, passionate fan base and critics anticipation.

1) Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron – May 1st

Coming out just 3 days short of the 3 year mark after its record-breaking first installment, “Age of Ultron” looks to potentially break its own record and take our heroes to a whole other level.  Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are put to the ultimate test as the emergence of the villainous Ultron causes the fate of the whole world to hang in the balance of a team.

Reprising his role as writer and director, Joss Whedon once again helms The Avengers film, which according to critics is going to up the ante once again for the entire superhero franchise. Be sure to line up and get your tickets when this film comes out because the fan base this genre already has, this could very well turn out to be the film of the year for both fans and critics alike.

2) Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Episode VII) – Dec. 18th

There is so much excitement over the possibilities of what could happen with the new Star Wars movie, so much so, hardcore fans are practically drooling over it.  However, that does not mean that such an anticipated film does not come with its fair share of controversy.  Directed by Star Trek director and visionary J.J. Abrams, some wonder if he can remain loyal to the fans and story of the Star Wars Universe and do honor by the most acclaimed, referenced and best-selling saga of all-time.

Like his previous projects, Abrams goes to great lengths to conceal the production from the outside world in order to ensure viewers are completely surprised and engulfed by the film upon their first sight of it. What can be confirmed as of right now is that the story will pick up approximately 30 years after “Return of the Jedi” left off.

December 18th might seem far, far away…but it is just over the horizon.

3) Furious 7 – April 3rd

When it comes to hot, intense, thrilling, high-octane top notch action, few films roar louder than the Fast and the Furious. They get better and better with each sequel and the draw in extraordinary box office success. With nearly one billion dollars to show for its last installment’s success, the Furious franchise is one of the select few series to stand the test of time.

With the final performance given by Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and the rest of the crew gearup for their most dangerous ride yet.

Following the death of his younger brother in “Fast & Furious 6,” older brother Deckard Shaw, played by Jason Statham, seeks revenge against Toretto and the rest of his family and calls them out by killing one of their own.  Taking place in what appears to be Abu Dhabi, the crew looks to be in the fight of their lives in a battle that might be too hard for our heroes to handle.

Long anticipated and highly overdue, fans are sure to show up for miles around when Furious 7 finally premieres on April 3rd this year.  Be prepared because this installment looks to potentially double the series’ box office value and take this franchise to new unforeseen heights.

4) Jurassic World – June 12th

A world long forgotten has been revived and given a polished look for a new era. The dinosaurs have returned!

Working as executive producer, Steven Spielberg has brought forth a new “Jurassic” movie that is sure to give you the thrills almost as much as the chills.

Twenty-two years after 1993’s “Jurassic Park,” the island of Isla Nublar has been transformed into a corporate dinosaur theme park.  Amazingly put together and so full of exotic pre-historic reptiles…doesn’t really take a genius to realize something is bound to go horribly wrong.

Starring Chris Pratt, of “Guardians of The Galaxy” fame, “Jurassic World is set to be released worldwide on June 12th this year.  Be on your guard, for you are going to be introduced to horrifying dinosaur the likes of which your eyes have never witnessed!

5) The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 – November 20th

As the final film of the two-part finale, 2015 marks the final year we will see the Hunger Games adaptation up on the silver screen.  Already a box office juggernaut, fans are sure to be in a bittersweet mood as they most certainly line up around the block to witness a piece of cinema history.

Jennifer Lawrence returns with company as Katniss Everdeen, the troubled young girl who struggles to save and protect those she loves in a world that has been reduced to all but rubble.  After being symbolized as their “Mockingjay,” Katniss is tasked with the incredible burden of leading the rebels of District 13 in an all-out revolution against the tyrannical might of the Capital.

As of this week, with all three current films in tow, the Hunger Games franchise has made an incredible $1.89 billion dollars. Along with the likes of Star Wars and the Fast and the Furious, the Hunger Games has etched itself into the top ten grossing movie franchises of all time, a feat not so easily achieved.

The fourth and final installment of this beloved franchise will reach its conclusion this year on Friday, Nov. 20.

Since the first film came out in 2012, this franchise has received an ever-expanding passionate fan base. Proving loyalty to the fans, director Francis Lawrence is gearing up to deliver one final knockout performance and head out on the highest note possible for the Hunger Games.
