Art therapist Erica Schwartz gave a presentation on the power of using art as therapy in many hospitals and rehabilitation centers Thursday, Oct. 14, in Doucette Hall.

Schwartz, a native of Erie, displayed examples of how young children as well as adults who may have just experienced a traumatic event can use art as a form of expressing their emotions. She described different art techniques she has used on patients in the past and also what their drawings symbolized to them.

Schwartz also incorporated an interactive aspect in the presentation in which she displayed different art projects that anyone can use at home to help relieve the stress of everyday life.
