On Sept. 23, Edinboro University was designated a 2015 Military Friendly School by Victory Media, a leader in successfully connecting the military and civilian worlds.

The Military Friendly Schools designation is awarded to the top 15 percent of universities and colleges in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students, and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation. This is the fifth consecutive year that Edinboro University has been recognized.

At Edinboro, resources for veterans, active-duty service members and their families are coordinated by the Veterans Success Center. The VSC provides a supportive environment to ensure student veterans make a smooth transition to college life and that all recipients of military benefits have access to an affordable, high-quality education as well as to the services they need to succeed.

“Edinboro University puts the student at the center of an educational setting that encompasses a variety of resources that greatly enhance academic success,” said Timothy.

“The Military Friendly School designation recognizes that Edinboro University continues to push forward with exciting and supportive programming for our student veterans,” Breneman said. “These individuals are an important part of our community here. Their experiences add to the richness of diversity on campus and to the learning environment in the classroom.”

Now in its sixth year, Victory Media’s Military Friendly Schools list is the premier, trusted resource for post-military success. It provides service members transparent, data-driven ratings about post-military education and career opportunities. The recognition is based on a survey that captures more than 50 leading practices in supporting military students.
